Indian Telecom Operators Banked a WHOOPING 15.6 million subscribers in March ‘09. Surprisingly this comes in continuation to a series of record additions over past few months
- 10.8 million subscribers in December ‘08
- 15.4 million subscribers in January ‘09
- 13.4 million subscribers in February ‘09
Monthly Mobile subscriber additions 2007 to 2009
Much of the growth in the Q4 08-09 is being credited to Reliance entrance in GSM services and to regional operators spreading their wings with national licences. Reliance GSM notched up of 11.3 million mobile subscribers in the January-March quarter period (creating a world record in ‘the number of GSM subscribers added in a month’ – 5 million subscribers in January ‘09). Whereas Aircel recorded an addition of almost 1 million subscribers in the same duration.
